Qualifications
- Student must be a Morris County resident.
- Student must be graduating as a senior from an accredited NJ high school.
- Student must be pursuing higher education in the field of art and applied to an art school, college, or university.
Portfolio REquirements
1. Portfolio must include at least six (6) but no more than ten (10) works of art.
2. A combination of three (3) of the following eight (8) categories must be represented in your portfolio:
3. At least one (1) work must be a self-portrait.
4. The majority of the work must have been completed in a high school setting, and must comply with high school guidelines regarding subject matter and suitability.
5. All work must be original compositions, it is not considered original to copy from work done by another person. Artwork developed from a personal photograph you have taken is acceptable.
6. You must include a personal statement about your concentration within your portfolio. For example, describe your interest in your chosen medium and why you would like to pursue it in college or as a career.

General Instructions
All artwork must be submitted via foliohd.com. You will create a digital portfolio and submit the URL/link to [email protected] by February 11, 2016 at 11:59pm. For instructions on how to upload your portfolio, please see below.
Fill out the application form in one of two ways:
a. Use the digital online form on the Mary Gill website to submit all materials;
b. Download the PDF, fill out, print, sign, and scan and email ALL materials to [email protected](application, portfolio link, personal statement, and signed certifications).
Send the signed statement of originality, and signed statement of portfolio review by the art educator as an attachment to [email protected]. Print the form, have it signed, scanned/photographed, and emailed back as an attachment (jpg or PDF).

How to upload your portfolio
- Go to http://foliohd.com/, click on “Sign up for free” in blue box on the left side of your screen.
- Type in your full name, email address, and create a password.
- Title your portfolio, please use your name. Select a URL (ie: janesmith.foliohd.com)
- Click on “upload images,” click the blue rectangle “Select Images.”
- You may upload the following types of files: .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp, or .tiff.
Please upload images using the highest resolution possible. Take digital photos of your work. The only alterations you may make to the digital image is cropping (to remove unsightly backgrounds, all images should be cropped to the edge of the artwork, do not include a border or mat) and adjusting light levels. Use a good digital camera, an easel and lights if possible to ensure the best representation of your work as possible. - For students submitting sculptures or 3-dimensional works, you may combine up to 3 different views of the piece into one image and upload as one image. Use Photoshop or a similar application to combine the 3 different views into ONE file.
- After images have loaded, they will appear under “My Portfolio.”
- Enter the title of the work in the “title” box that will appear on the right.
- In the “description” box, include the following:
- Student: “John Smith”
- Medium/Materials: “pen and ink on paper” “watercolor on paper” “oil on canvas” (please be explicit in the material description)
- Dimensions: "24"w x 36.5"h"
- Category: "painting, drawing, computer generated, photography, printmaking, sculpture/3D design, fashion, OR illustration"
- Date Completed: “October, 2013"
- Teacher: “Mary Wilson”
- School: “Morristown High School”
- Do not click “create a new gallery,” please keep ALL submissions for the Mary Gill Scholarship in the same gallery.
- For students wishing to submit videos/digital animation, first upload to YouTube or Vimeo, then in Folio Manager, click “add a video,” and paste the link to the video in the box that appears to the right.
- When you are finished uploading your portfolio of 6-10 works, please make sure you fill out the application on marygillartscholarship.weebly.com and submit.
- Send ALL materials to [email protected] by February 2, 2014 at 11:59pm. Submissions received after this deadline will not be considered. Incomplete or incorrect applications will not be considered.
- Please ensure that ALL information provided is correct and spelled correctly as this is the information that will be used on labels and you will not have a chance to make changes once the information and portfolios are submitted.
